      <title>Natty Version</title>
<description>&lt;img src="http://soulshake.podOmatic.com/mymedia/thumb/1188319/0x0_2454178.jpg" alt="itunes pic" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was debating whether I should do an all dubwise podcast, worried that it could get pretty samey over an hour (though, truly, it won't sound like much if you're listening on computer speakers alone! No bass.) But I think this works out pretty well...I went for a handful of 'classic' version sides but also tried to go for some more obscure b-sides to keep things interesting. Check the Alrick Forbes or Black Traps dubs, for instance. Not brimstone and fire, sure, but both interesting on their own merit. Dubs roughly from 1974 to 1979. Enjoy!

All original press 45s here, except for the Johnny Clarke tune which was supposedly never released on 45...this is a late 90s reissue of a mid 70s duplate, briefly reissued and now out of print.

My apologies for the vocal distortion on the Michael Rose and Invaders tunes, but to my knowledge all copies of these songs are less than stellar. I've heard a few other copies of the Invaders tune and the high treble mastering is poor on all copies (please let me know if you have a clean copy!) As for the Rose tune, well he's just too close to the microphone when he hits those big notes. These are just two more examples of the rough edges surrounding the reggae world of yesteryear. To me, it's charming.

Everything once again off original press, except for the Heptones tune from the superb "Sea of Love" compilation (which has been killing me lately) and the unheralded Bennett &amp; Davis rocksteady cut from Trojan's out-of-print "Musical Fever" release. A few tunes for the collectors, as well...don't actually know that Trap Man is in fact by the Invaders, but that's what is written on the label, so I'm going with that. Also, I'm not totally convinced that the title of the Eagles tune here is correct, but that's what the matrix is listed as. Again, I'm going with it but let me know if you know better. While we're at it, is it really Little Roy on track 4? I've also seen it credited to the Emeralds. Enough trainspotting for now...enjoy!
